March 1 — Yoga? Really?

My second yoga class, which I’m trying as an alternative to stretches and machines at the gym.  Got the idea from a fellow dad (our sons play baseball together at Tam).   He is an old catcher and I’m an old pitcher, and we share both a love for baseball and an understanding of some of the aches and pains of aging.  He is one of the last people I would have connected with yoga, but on the baseball sidelines last week he was extolling its virtues — strength and flexibility.   What’s good for an old catcher could be good for me!   So, I now I’ve been to two 6:30 am power yoga classes.   The moves/positions are tricky, and the breathing is unnatural, and it’s all flat out hard, but it’s a supportive teacher and group, and I’m able to stretch in that fairly suffocating heat more than I could have imagined.
My trainer approves of this as well, so it will likely be at least a once a week part of my training.  Uuuhmmmmmmm……
